Required Experience:
Essentials- At least 2 years of experience of working in an administrative role within the education sector, Experience of working with academics and students and dealing with frequent queries on various matters
Desirable-Experience of working within a Higher Educational establishment
Salary: Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 40,000 per month CTC
Academic Programme Development and Execution:
To assist with sports and exercise programme development in all Somaiya campuses, including liaising with centres, and university partner requests. To manage and produce the requisite programme documentation (programme/module specifications, delivery details, etc.) for programme approval. To lead on programme approval events including identifying external reviewers and minuting programme approval events. To undertake necessary follow-up work after a programme approval event to ensure the programme is fully quality assured and able to be delivered, including identifying pathway leader staffing needs and other resources.
To assist the Director and HOD of the academic wing of Somaiya Sports Academy in managing quality processes throughout the year, such as collating subject leader minutes, processing mark changes and preparing for examination boards.
To prepare arrangements for, attend and record minutes, where required, any specified meetings (such as Programme Committees, etc.) or meetings with external bodies such as the Sports Authority of India, where the input and experience of the Academic Officer is required in order to maintain and enhance the quality of the curriculum area and thus student experience
Admissions Cycle:
Within a centralized admissions environment, determines student applicants' admissibility to the Somaiya Vidyavihar University.
Evaluates transcripts and assigns students to appropriate academic units.
Advises potential students on admission requirements and options, transfer/articulation, and related issues.
Establishes and administers programs for targeting, recruitment, and retention of defined groups of students, and visits schools or colleges to make presentations to groups and individuals.
Develops associated programs and marketing materials.
Timetabling:
Creating and maintaining the computerized timetable, including editing one-off events and rescheduling sessions to ensure that academic staff and students have up-to-date schedules.
Using the timetable application to plan for the next academic year, and using the outputs to advise on staff hours, room requirements and timetabling adjustments.
Liaising with academic staff (permanent and visiting) about availability for timetabling.
Room booking for internal events and ad-hoc bookings. Providing staff and student training on relevant College databases and IT systems.
Library provision: Managing the College’s library provisions including liaising with SVU’s Central Library.
Placement and Training Cycle:
Research Job Trends: To conduct research to learn the skills, abilities, and credentials employers seek for graduates of the school’s departments and majors. Use the university’s degree plans and course descriptions, in addition to coordinating with professors and department heads, to find relevant job titles and industries for graduates for internship training and placements.
Provide Career Services to Students: Helping students create their resumes and cover letters, find internship or externship sites, and apply for jobs in their fields.. To provide mock interviews to give students practice answering common questions and provide information about companies hiring in the area.
Network with Local Employers: To have strong relationships with employers helps placement officers set up local partnerships with companies where students can do internships or externships or visit for job shadowing. To also recommend students to these employers after they learn what skills companies prefer from candidates.
Plan Hiring Events: Planning campus hiring events like job fairs gives students exposure to potential jobs and helps local companies find suitable candidates. To use the knowledge of job trends and the employer network to bring a variety of employers to the university for a successful event.
Screen Potential Candidates: Coordinating with employers, to run background checks on students who seek internships or externships to verify students have the prerequisite education and meet all additional requirements for these companies’ positions.
