The idea of collaboration of Michigan State University (MSU) and Somaiya Vidyavihar (SVV) was conceived in a joint discussion with Prof. Doug Buhler, Prof Karim Maredia and Prof Larry Walker on December 21, 2018.To the further this collaboration Dr Maredia had visited SVV campus for a meeting on February 15, 2019. In this productive discussion, the idea of “SVV-MSU Global Alliance in Climate Smart Agriculture & Sustainable Development” was conceived. To further this collaboration, Dr. Sugandha Shetye, Dr. Veena Salvi and Dr. Abhishek Mane faculty from K. J. Somaiya College of Science and Commerce visited MSU from 3rd – 10th Nov 2019. Different laboratories and research centers at MSU were visited to identify common research ideas and processes, also to identify faculty across institutions and universities to collaborate with each other. Fruitful meetings and discussions for collaborative research were discussed at length with individual group in-charges. Critical discussions were furthered to jointly apply for IUSSTF or identifying funding agencies for the collaboration. A Letter of Intent between Somaiya Vidyavihar University and Michigan State University was signed on 8th Nov 2019 for the SVV-MSU Global Alliance in Climate Smart Agriculture & Sustainable Development.
